The go-home SmackDown before SummerSlam opened live from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Tom Phillips welcomed us while Corey Graves and Byron Saxton were accompanying him. Charlotte Flair came out to open the show.
Flair took the mic and went on about being great. She brought up WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and said Trish sees her greatness, and it eats her alive. Flair said Trish was never as good as The Queen. Meanwhile, fans gave Flair the “What!?” reaction. Flair said the athletes of today are much better than they were during Trish’s day. She went on and said she would shatter Trish’s dream of beating her on Sunday.
Further, Flair showed us a video package with highlights from her career. Trish Stratus had hi-jacked the video while she made her way out. WWE Hall of Famer admitted she has been dreaming of one match because Flair is the embodiment of what she fought for. Trish said maybe her wanting one more match is to prove it to her kids, or the fans – but also to prove it to herself. She quoted the late WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race about how great it is to be under the lights and said she wants that.
Moreover, Trish said Flair might be the queen, but she’s not Trish. Flair welcomed Trish to her nightmare while they confronted in the middle of the ring. The Queen said she would make Trish bow down to the queen on Sunday. Flair delivered a “wooo!” in her face. So, Trish slapped Flair who just stared Trish down. Fans booed while Flair made her exit from the square circle and Trish’s music started.
Charlotte Flair will take on WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at The Biggest Event of Summer on August 11.
