Recently, Triple H made an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. The Executive Vice president of WWE discussed a bunch of pro wrestling topics. When asked about the possibility of Punk returning in any capacity, he had a very optimistic response. Also, Tripe H indicated that WWE is open for business.
“That’s a ‘could be’. Vince will say it all the time: ‘We’re open for business’. The past is passed, today is today and you never say never in WWE.”
The controversy surrounding CM Punk’s WWE exit
Over five years ago, CM Punk left the company after his appearance in the Royal Rumble 2014 match. The superstar beloved by WWE Universe didn’t talk much about his exit for a while. Several months later, he spilled the beans in an edition of Art of Wrestling, hosted by Colt Cabana. The creative differences with Vince McMahon and Triple H – in addition to WWE’s doctors not paying heed to his well-being, led to Punk leaving WWE.
However, Dr. Chris Amann didn’t take the accusation lightly and proceeded to file a lawsuit on Punk and Cabana. WWE Chairman made a public apology to former WWE champion soon after this 2-part interview. Plus, The Boss stated that he would like to work with Punk sometime in the future. With All Elite Wrestling in the picture, many speculated that Punk could possibly sign with the company. Instead, Punk underwent a tryout for WWE Backstage on FS1. So, this raised the hopes of the fans who have been waiting for Punk to make his in-ring return to WWE.
