Steve Austin talked about the Clash of Champions PPV in the latest episode of The Steve Austin Show. WWE Hall of Famer also discussed the opening match of the night besides revealing his favorite matches of the PPV. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode challenged Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for the RAW Tag Team titles.
The freshly crowned RAW Tag Team Champions, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, just started teaming up since last month. However, the showdown of the duo as a tag team has been flawless. Their performance attracted the praise of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. He stated;
It was short, but just the title switch and Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler. Both of those guys have been there, putting in a lot of hard work. And, of course, Dolph Ziggler has been there for a real long time, and his work is just something. Dolph Ziggler is just a great worker, and he really turned up the volume on those promos. So, congrats to both those guys.”
Moreover, The Texas RattleSnake congratulated the duo on their championship victory.
But to Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler, for winning those titles, it’s great to see the gold, silver, whatever color they are, in their hands.
Main Event of WWE Clash of Champions
Further, WWE Hall of Famer indicated how the championship change helped in building up for the main event of Clash of Champions. He expressed that losing the RAW Tag titles made more sense and gave Rollins and Strowman with more reasons to beat each other.
The first match, with the tag titles being switched. I really enjoyed that match because it set up the story for the rest of the show. When Braun came there to the back and said, ‘hey, they didn’t lose the tag titles, Seth lost the tag titles.’ I was like, ‘oh man, here we go. What a story!’ So, I didn’t get all the way to the main event, but I loved that match.
Indeed, Austin was right as The BeastSlayer put in his everything and successfully defended the Universal title.
