We saw how Braun Strowman won the WWE Intercontinental Title from Shinsuke Nakamura last Friday. Renee Young was in the ring with a mic. She brought Strowman out to the ring while fans were cheering him on. Renee asked how it feels to hold the title knowing it’s finally his. Fans started cheering for Strowman again. Some chanted “you deserve it!” Strowman said he still gets chills when he thinks about it. He went over some of his WWE accomplishments and said this is his greatest. The one thing he hasn’t been able to do as a WWE Superstar is hold a singles title over his head, until now. Strowman raised the title and fans popped.
However, the music interrupted and Nakamura came out with Sami Zayn. Sami said he’s sorry to interrupt Braun’s little celebration but as everyone saw, Braun’s win was fraudulent – that’s why Sami and Nakamura are here to demand a rematch. Strowman mentioned how no one wants to hear Sami talk all night. The Monster Among Men said he will defend anywhere, including tonight in San Jose. Sami said this will happen… but not tonight, and no way in San Jose. He said they think unlike Strowman and they will be tactical about this. Sami said they do have resources.
Suddenly, The Revival’s Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder attack Strowman from behind. Fans booed as The Revival double teamed Strowman. Nakamura joined them as Strowman got beat down in the corner some more. Strowman fought them off and then turned his attention to Sami. He chased Sami around the ring, dropping The Revival on the way. Strowman grabbed Sami but he escaped. He chased Sami in the ring but Nakamura dropped him with a big knee. Nakamura dropped Strowman again with a Kinshasa. Fans booed as Nakamura stood tall with Sami. They all stood together as Nakamura’s music plays while Strowman was trying to recover.
