Tonight’s SmackDown came live from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Michael Cole welcomed us, joined by Corey Graves at ringside. They hyped tonight’s show.
The Miz came out first. He stopped and waited. John Morrison made his way out. The #1 contenders headed to the ring together for the return of The Dirt Sheet segment while Greg Hamilton did the introductions. Morrison and Miz took their seats in the middle of the ring. They plugged their Super ShowDown match with SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day.
Further, they led us to their new blockbuster – Once Upon on The Dirt Sheet. The video package started with a movie-like rating of A, for Awesome. The comedy video features The Miz’s dad. WWE Producer Lance Storm and John Laurinaitis also made cameos. It ended with “Coming Soon at Super ShowDown… New Tag Team Champions!”
Miz said that might have been Oscar worthy, but it’s definitely worthy of the tag team titles. Morrison said everyone was booing them weeks ago but now that they have a blockbuster movie. Everyone wants to hang with the cool kids. Some fans booed them. They went on until the music interrupted and the champions, Kofi Kingston and Big E came out. The New Day came out with tubs of popcorn instead of pancakes. They said the trailer was amazing, it had it all.
The duo walked down the ramp and Big E shared some of his popcorn with fans in the front row. Kofi joked about being Miz’s favorite WWE Superstar, more liked than his own son. They went on about the trailer. Big E said it’s hilarious that Miz and Morrison think they will take the titles at Super ShowDown. In addition, he said that’s Richard Pryor-level comedy. The New Day was in the ring, laughing at the #1 contenders. Miz went on about how they have dominated The New Day over the past few weeks. They mocked Big E and Kofi.
However, the music interrupted and The Usos – Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso came out. The Usos weren’t thrilled with Miz and Morrison saying they beat them. They welcomed everyone to The Uso Penitentiary but they’re interrupted by Dolph Ziggler’s music. Miz and Morrison took advantage of the distraction and attacked The New Day from behind, beating them down. The Usos rushed the ring and sent the #1 contenders retreating. Ziggler headed to the ring with his partner Robert Roode.
