Kofi Kingston showcased a pulse-pounding performance in a Gauntlet Match on an episode of SmackDown Live. However, the performance made his stars shine after dangling in the mid-card section for around a decade. A series of events led Kingston to defeat Daniel Bryan to win his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35.
Opposing to what many had anticipated, WWE strongly booked him, and The Dreadlocked Dynamo rarely lost matches. On the FOX premiere episode of SmackDown, he faced Brock Lesnar with the WWE title on the line. But the bout concluded in nine seconds – a thunderous F5 from The Beast ending Kingston’s reign as Champion.
Recently, former WWE Champion sat down with Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT. Kingston talked about losing WWE title to Brock Lesnar on the FOX premiere episode of SmackDown. He stated that the match ending so quickly disappointed him. Plus, he said that it was disheartening to see it all end in such a manner.
“It was a bit of a disappointment to go out there and have it go so quickly on the biggest night of SmackDown. To have it end like that, yeah it was a little bit disheartening, but it is what it is.”
Kofi wanted the chance to have an actual match with Brock for the WWE title on the first SD on FOX.
