Zumaia Cuban Boxing Club celebrated a triumphant night at home with three victories out of three. The event, organized by Zumaia Cuban Boxing in collaboration with the local council, took place on Saturday at the Aitzuri fronton. This year’s event featured seven matches between boxers from various clubs, with Zumaia represented by three members, all of whom emerged victorious: brothers Jared and Eliezer Chavarría, both champions of Euskadi, and Mady Diame, runner-up of Euskadi. “The victories were well-deserved,” said Rubén Arredondo, the head of ZCB and organizer of the event.
Jared Chavarría was the first to step into the ring, competing in the junior 63-kilogram category. The younger Chavarría brother started the first round with high energy and effective combinations of punches. His opponent couldn’t keep up, and their corner threw in the towel in the second round.
Eliezer competed in the 75-kilogram youth category, showcasing his prowess in medium and close range boxing with a powerful punch. “He knocked his opponent out in the first round with a strong hook to the abdominal area; it was a technical KO,” explained Arredondo. Both brothers will be competing in the Spanish Championships. Finally, Mady Diame took to the ring in the penultimate match of the evening, in the elite 64-kilogram category, winning by technical knockout. With technical boxing control in the third round and a right volley, he knocked out his opponent. According to the head of Zumaia Cuban Boxing, Saturday’s fight was one of Mady’s best performances, demonstrating excellent boxing skills. “It’s been good work, we’re happy with the results and we keep moving forward,” he expressed.
Additionally, the club has reminded everyone that boxing classes will continue in June and July with the following schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:45 to 11:45, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:30 to 20:45
