AEW EVP Cody Rhodes explained why Stardust gimmick didn’t work in WWE

Recently, a Twitter user posted a tweet about how Stardust was a hilarious idea on WWE’s part. Former WWE star took notice of the tweet. Cody Rhodes proceeded to explain who is blameworthy for the gimmick not working out in WWE. Wanna know how AEW EVP responded to fan’s tweet? Let’s head to the beginning.

Way back in 2007, Cody Rhodes started in WWE. Later, he aligned with Randy Orton. The Viper, Rhodes, & Ted Dibiase formed a three-man team named Legacy. The alliance caused widespread destruction for a long while. Rhodes went his own way and donned several gimmicks in the process after the faction disbanded. Later, a deranged, hideous character replaced the “Dashing” Cody Rhodes. He wore a mask after Rey Mysterio legitimately broke Rhodes’ nose.

Further, he formed a team with Damien Sandow, naming themselves “Rhodes Scholars.” Soon, Rhodes changed gimmick with a character that mimicked Goldust in aspect and peculiarity – Stardust. Stardust seemed promising. Nonetheless, the gimmick didn’t click with the WWE Universe. So, Cody Rhodes requested his release from the company in May 2016.  Now, Cody Rhodes is the Executive Vice President of All Elite Wrestling. Many fans regarded AEW promotion as a strong alternative to WWE.

Recently, AEW EVP Cody Rhodes reacted to a fan’s tweet regarding Stardust gimmick don’t work out in WWE. So, he explained why his Stardust gimmick didn’t work in the promotion.  Former WWE star blamed himself for the gimmick not taking off. Rhodes expressed that although he worked hard, it still wasn’t enough.  Cody’s response to the fan is below, have a look.

Luckily, Rhodes made for himself on the indie scene by worked hard the past three years. Currently, he holds a significant position in All Elite Wrestling promotion.
